Although it can be a very provocative martial art, Shootfighting is still one of the most popular martial arts styles in the world. The art of Shootfighting is very old, originating from Japan as a way of self defense. Even though it is great to use for self defense purposes, this martial art is more popular as a ring sport in competitions such as the Vale Tudo and the professional Shootfighting leagues found throughout Japan.

In Japan Shootfighting is a sport that is very popular. The bouts take place in a ring that is similar to wrestling, ropes and all intact. There are normally rounds, as well as a referee who is there to call the bout and stop it if need be. Fighters will wear gloves and go at it full contact. Submission and grappling is legal as well, which makes the fights more interesting. Fighters can test their skills in Shootfighting against some of the best Japan has to offer with these bouts.

Shootfighting is popular in the United States as well, although it is more popular throughout Japan. There are American fighters such as Ken Shamrock and Bart Vale who are experts in Shootfighting and travel to Japan on a frequent basis to compete in tournaments and bouts. The atmosphere in Japan is very high, as they show a lot of passion and desire for the matches over there.

In technique and form, Shootfighting is a mix of striking and grappling. It teaches students to be prepared for anything, standing or on the ground. There are a lot of bone breaking moves taught with this art, from arm locks to ankle locks. Most of the techniques that are taught to the student use a mixture of strength and technique – bringing very drastic results.

Even though a lot of people classify Shootfighting as being a form of pit fighting, it is actually quite a bit more. Shootfighting does incorporate a lot of stand up fighting, in the form of punches, elbows, and kicks. On their feet or on the ground, stylists can execute moves that will end a fight quickly. The submission locks are the deadliest forms of defense and attack with this martial art, as they target a specific limb and focus on breaking it in two.

As a martial art, Shootfighting is very hard to beat. It teaches students to be aggressive in battle and end the fight as quickly as possible. It also teaches students self control and self esteem as well. There are no belt classes with Shootfighting, as it is more or less a self defense system that was originally designed for the streets. It has proven to be very effective over the years, both on the streets and in competition.

There's no mistaken the fact that Aikido is one of the best and most popular martial art in the United States today. The art of Aikido is best associated with actor Steven Seagal, who made it even more popular with his movies. Aikido is rich and history in tradition, an art that originally started in Japan back in the 1940s.

Aikido's founder, Morihei Ueshiba, was born on December 14, 1883. As he was growing up in modern Japan, Ueshiba witnessed the local thugs vandalize his father. The young boy decided that he would make himself strong in order to seek revenge against the thugs. Ueshiba was strong willed, and devoted every waking moment to physical training and martial arts.

He received a lot of certificates in jujitsu, spear fighting, and fencing. Even though he was very impressive with his abilities, he found himself not happy with his skills. He knew that there was more to it, and began to look into religion, hoping that he would find a greater significance with life – pursuing martial arts all the while.

Ueshiba founded the martial art of Aikido by combining both his religious beliefs and his training in martial arts. At that time, the style was known as aikibudo, it wasn't until 1942 that he decided to go with the name Aikido. The style was quite different indeed, incorporating several different styles of jujitsu, aiki-jujitsu, and spear and sword fighting techniques as well.

Even though a lot of us think of Aikido as the ultimate martial art, it is an art that is based on religion and harmony. Aikido uses joint locks, weight manipulation, and throws to achieve it's purpose. The martial art is very effective, which were the intentions of Ueshiba from the start. Aikido consists of many techniques, and it is the result of Ueshiba's creative innovation.

Aside from what many think, there really is no unified belief or philosophy in the martial art of Aikido. While Aikido is indeed rich in heritage and religion, it believes in harmony and peace of the spirit. By achieving a higher spiritual power, Ueshiba has always believed that the human body is capable of anything. Even though he wanted revenge, he still stated that Aikido wasn't about fighting, but rather a way to reconcile with the world and make every human being on giant family.

Over the years, Aikido was introduced in America with amazing results. Steven Seagal is by far the most popular, showing the world the power and harmony of Aikido through his many movies. There are a lot of martial arts dojo's around North America that offer Aikido to study, possibly even some in your area. Not only will Aikido teach you self defense, but it will also teach you harmony of the spirit and how to find inner peace as well.

Judogi is the white Judo uniform that Judo practitioners or Judokas wear while practicing Judo. It helps absorb the stress and strain of throwing and grappling which are integral to this art. This uniform was created at Kodokan. Later, it was adopted by most Judo schools across the world.

The Judogi is basically nothing but a pair of white cotton drawstrings pants and a white quilted jacket held together by a belt that is indicative of the person's Dan rank. The jacket is quilted and thicker because it needs to absorb the impact of throws and pins.

Before a competition one of the two artists is given a blue Judogi to wear. This is so that the people who are watching can, at a distance, distinguish between the two Judokas. In Japan they attach a red sash to the belt instead, to aid in spotting. In Europe and North America a colored sash, for visual distinction is used at the local level competitions.

At all big meets where along with the audience the camera is watching too, a blue Judogi is what differentiates the judokas. Some Japanese purists tend to look down at the use of blue Judogis, but practicality most often scores over tradition.

The color of the belt worn by Judokas is extremely important because it signifies the skill level. There is no uniformity in the choice of colors. In some countries the nine colors range from grey to white, light blue, blue, yellow, orange, green, purple, and brown, with grey being the beginner's color. However, in Europe the belt colors are different. They range from white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown to black, with each color signifying a higher rank. In some European countries a red belt is used to indicate a beginner.

Japan has its own color scheme. All students wear either white or brown belts while the Dan grades may wear the black belt. The sixth to eighth grade Dans wear a red-and-white belt, while those ranked ninth Dan and above wear a solid red belt. The credit for originating the Dan grading system goes to Jigoro Kano, the man who is called the fater of modern Judo.

All Judokas are expected to wear smartly washed and ironed judogis when they come for practice. Those who don't do so run the risk of being sent home by the Judo masters. This is because of the great stress that martial arts lays on hygiene and cleanliness in any hand-to-hand combat.

Although you may hear many different meanings, the word Judo actually means all of the above and several more.

Original founded back in 1882, Judo comes from the feudal Japan fighting system. Upon founding, Judo was a refinement of the martial art jujutsu. Jujutsu is one of the oldest martial arts styles, dating back hundreds of years.

Judo made the biggest impact in 1964 when it was first introduced into the Olympic Games. Now, it is practiced by millions of people all across the world. Judo can help students stay in shape, excel in all areas of competition, stay protected with self defense, and several other things. For a majority of students, Judo is practiced just for fun. Although it starts out as fun for many, it quickly turns into a way of life, a burning passion if you will.

Similar to other martial arts styles, Judo has rules that ensure the safety of those competing in the competitions. Students of Judo who are looking to test their skills will enjoy the competition levels, which range from club meets to national tournaments, and on up to the well known and best level of competition – the Olympic Games.

Judo is known best for it's amazing throw techniques. What many aren't aware of, is the fact that Judo is more than just throws. It also involves grappling on the ground, controlling holds, arm locks, leg locks, and even choking techniques. Judo teaches all aspects of self defense, from a grappler's standpoint.

Another great thing about Judo is the fact that anyone can study, male or female, and even those that are disabled. Judo is also inexpensive to participate in, taught throughout the year, and it appeals to everyone. This martial art is also unique in the sense that even the elderly enjoy practicing it on a daily basis.

Judo also helps students learn and develop respect and self discipline. It offers the chance to learn self confidence, leadership skills, power, flexibility, and physical prowess. Judo has evolved quite a bit over the years, going from a fighting art to competition status. These days, there are separate Judo ranks for kids, adults, and seniors.

The martial art Judo, which means "gentle way" teaches you the applications that you need for self defense as well as competition. Judo is unlike other martial arts, in the sense that it combines the best of grappling with awesome throws that require little to no strength – but more of the way you position your body. This is an excellent martial art – that anyone can enjoy.

The marital arts films may have originated in the Pacific Rim but they attained their cult status when they moved to Hollywood. There, film directors created a new class of movies built on martial arts moves and counter moves. In the process, they produced a new generation of martial arts films and film stars.

Today, there are plenty of martial arts artists in the West who recreate their martial abilities on screen and have their own distinct fan following. These include legends like Chuck Norris, Wesley Snipe, Jean Claude Van Damme and GJ Torres.

But this is only the tip of the iceberg. There are also several artists in the east who have their own distinct following. Here's a list of the who's who of the Martial Arts world:

Kwan Tak-Hing was the original screen Wong Fei-Hung; the legendary Hung Gar master who starred in 100 films from the late 1940s to the 1960s. Kwan himself was a master of Tibetan White Crane rather than Hung Gar and specialized in the use of the whip.

Bruce Lee is what every boy wanted to grow up to be in the seventies. And Bruce Lee is the person who made Hollywood sit up. Trained originally in Wing Chun, Bruce Lee made cult films like 'Enter the Dragon 'and 'Return of the Dragon'.

Jackie Chan was the Bruce Lee of the eighties and the nineties, without the former's intensity. Jackie Chan evolved a unique genre that combined slapstick comedy with martial arts. He has directed and acted in more tan 50 films and has a very distinct following across the world. Despite intensive training from a Chinese Opera school, Jackie claims to be an actor and not a martial arts artist.

Jet Li, another Hollywood favorite, won the Chinese national Wushu (Martial Arts) championships five times in a row before becoming a movie star, starting with the movie 'Shaolin Temple'.

Hollywood also has Caucasians who have trained in martial arts and then become movie stars. Chuck Norris learned Tang Soo Do, a martial arts similar to Taekwondo, while in Korea. He was also Bruce Lee's training partner. Steven Seagal is an aikido instructor; Jean Claude van Damme practiced karate in Europe; Cynthia Rothrock is probably the best known woman in the genre and considered to be the Queen of martial arts films. She was taught by GJ Torres.

There are other martial arts artists too who are more screen artists than martial ones. They include Chow Yun Fat, who is the star of many a martial arts flick in Hong Kong, China and America; Michelle Yeoh, who is a dancer turned actress; Jason Scott Lee, who is actually an actor who trained in martial arts to play Bruce Lee in the film 'Dragon: The Bruce Lee'.

The martial art known as Ninjutsu is very secret, with a very clouded history. The history isn't documented all that well, as most of what is known about the martial art is that which has been passed down from generation to generation. There are a lot of historical records that state families from the Koga region as being the creators to this very secret style.

Over 70 different Ninjutsu Ryu have been identified and discovered over the years, however most of them have died out. A majority of them were created around a set of specific techniques and skills, although when those skills of a specific Ryu were no longer needed or wanted, the Ryu seems to die out and fade away from existence.

The art of Ninjutsu is best associated with the ninja's from ancient Japan. The ninja's are well known all around the world, for their stealth and very secreted life. The ninja is known to have went through very tough and demanding training, which hardly anyone really knows about. Those that were actual ninja's are either dead, or not allowed to let anyone know their true identity.

During the 1980's, when the ninja trend really hit the United States, the instructors of Ninjutsu popped out all over the place, making black a very happening color. Years later, the trend seemed to die out, and there aren't that many people trying to learn the art.

In regards to the art, the term of Ninjutsu doesn't actually refer to any certain style, but rather a group of the martial arts, with each one having it's own view that's expressed with each of the different Ryu. The Ryu vary, meaning that one may focus on one certain physical dynamic, while the next may be focused on redirection.

What many people aren't aware of, is the fact that Ninjutsu involves both unarmed and armed fighting skills, along with philosophy, strategy, and history. There are a few dojo's that offer the art, many of them being quite comprehensive with the way they teach.

During combat, Ninjutsu focuses on distance, posture, and flow. Stylists are taught to react to every movement, and respond in ways that will place them in the advantage position. From being in a position of advantage, the stylist can effectively change the outcome of the encounter – quickly going from negative to positive.

Those that practice the martial art of Ninjutsu are instructed and trained to use their entire body for everything they do, which provides the most leverage and power. Ninjutsu is well known in Japan, and for good reason. It is a very secretive martial art, yet very powerful. The techniques can be used or self defense, along with stealth. It can be a great martial art to learn – if you can find a dojo that teaches it.

If you want to learn a form of combat sport and martial art with a touch of softness, you need to know more about Jiu Jitsu. Basically, Jiu Jitsu consists of striking techniques and grappling. The main goal or aim of this sport is to knock down or force your opponent to surrender through joint locks or by attaining dominant positions.

It doesn't really matter if you're big or small. In Jiu Jitsu, it would be possible to defeat a much bigger opponent or stronger assailant by using the proper techniques and leverage. At present, there are now academies teaching Jiu Jitsu and they can offer superior and advanced instructions for all individuals – men and women, children and adults, young or old. You don't have to worry whether you're a newcomer or perhaps you want to return to the martial art/sport.

For hundreds of years now, Jiu Jitsu is still being practiced and there are already modifications and changes introduced by practitioners. In fact, some of the Olympic sports were derived from Jiu Jitsu like judo.

Are you familiar with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Gracie Jiu Jitsu? In the former, the sport does not involve kicks, spectacular throws, and ceremonial blows. You can't punch and not only that, you don't need to rely on your brute strength alone. The positions utilized for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are like crawling and snake grabbing. The latter was introduced by Carlos Gracie, hence the name 'Gracie Jiu Jitsu'. Carlos studied Japanese Jiu Jitsu under Mitsuyo Maeda, a Japanese champion.

Many youngsters love Jiu Jitsu because of its several benefits. If you enroll in any of the academies or Jiu Jitsu classes, you will learn different techniques. You can make use of gravity to deliver powerful strikes, chokes, and joint locks. When you're making your moves, you should never have any hesitation and you should be relaxed; otherwise, you will suffer the consequences.

In today's world, crime is everywhere. You need to be prepared at all times and learning Jiu Jitsu is one way of ensuring your safety. Once you enroll in the Jiu Jitsu classes, you will surely learn all the techniques in order to defend yourself against your enemy. You must be self disciplined and you must not use the Jiu Jitsu techniques for hurting others intentionally. Always keep in mind that even the ancient people used this martial art or sport for self defense and at times, for friendly competitions.

Jiu Jitsu is gaining a lot of popularity these days and many people are now interested in learning the different Jiu Jitsu techniques. Even older adults also want to learn about this form of martial art and sport.

If you're also interested in Jiu Jitsu, try to visit online resources about this great sport. You will learn a lot from the online resources and if you can afford the rates offered in the Jiu Jitsu classes, you can sign up and enroll. In no time at all, you can become an excellent Jiu Jitsu enthusiast. Jiu Jitsu classes are not hard to find especially if you conduct your search online.

You can start your searches now and try to find classes offered near your area. That way, you don't have to go a long way and you can even have your classes on weekends. Learn how to defend yourself through Jiu Jitsu.

Jiu Jitsu is very important these days. You can never really tell if you're safe once you go out to the streets. The usual reaction of an individual who is being attacked is to panic. When this happens, you can't do anything to defend yourself from the attacker. If you know Jiu Jitsu, there will be no room for panic because you will instantly know what to do when you see the attacker.

It doesn't really matter how large or big your opponent is because if you know the proper BJJ techniques, you can use your attacker's strength and momentum to your advantage. The Jiu Jitsu trainings can be a very enjoyable and pleasurable experience. Many experts advise people to learn any form of martial arts, especially Jiu Jitsu.

Jiu Jitsu was designed for self defense and so it is quite effective to use when you're being attacked. Whatever you're reason is for learning Jiu Jitsu, you can easily sign up in BJJ clubs in your area. There are those who want to lose weight to achieve physical fitness, and of course, for self protection. You can also try searching online for BJJ clubs just in case you find it hard to look for one in your area. If you want to achieve peace of mind or improve your thinking abilities and confidence, Jiu Jitsu can help you out. After a considerable time of Jiu Jitsu training, you can build stronger character. As you grow older, you can use these things to your advantage and to achieve more success in your life.

Learning Jiu Jitsu is not always serious. In fact, you will have fun during the training because you will practice as a group. There are also support teams available that are ready to attend to the needs of the students. Just make sure that you choose a licensed BJJ club. That way, you can learn all the BJJ techniques. Aside from the techniques, students will also learn about proper leverage. This is the key to defeating a much larger attacker. If you can combine proper leverage and Jiu Jitsu techniques, you will surely win the fight.

Teachers and instructors don't allow unsupervised fights in the club. But when you go out, you should still practice the principles of Jiu Jitsu and use it only for defending oneself when an unexpected situation comes up. You should never use it to provoke a fight.

By being self disciplined, you will have a better social life. There are no pressures in the BJJ clubs. It's really quite amazing how the students feel so relaxed and at ease during the training. The instructors see to it that their students show respect to one another to promote a better training environment. As you play at a higher level, the sport gets more competitive but it also helps you become more productive. Men playing Jiu Jitsu may appear aggressive but even women can play the sport if they learn the proper techniques and leverage.

As compared to other forms of martial arts, Jiu Jitsu emphasizes relaxation and calmness. Freaking out will not do you any good. So even if you feel the weight of your opponent on your face and chest, stay calm and relaxed. Your body can't work properly if you're panicking. By enrolling in the Jiu Jitsu instruction classes, the coaches will teach women on how to deal with bigger opponents through simple movements and proper mindset.

Many of today's sports are dominated by men but if you want a change of pace and environment, you should start learning more about Jiu Jitsu. Women who are stressed out from work can also get relaxation through Jiu Jitsu. The sport does not only concentrate on the moves and techniques but it also helps in improving the overall wellbeing of the individual. It would also be best to learn the sport at a young age so that you will grow with the sport.

The support teams of Jiu Jitsu classes help in teaching students to be better individuals by being disciplined and by building self confidence and self esteem. You will also learn positive traits that you can use as you grow older. With positive traits and outlook in life, you will be able to achieve your goals in life. Jiu Jitsu can definitely make positive changes in your life. Aside from learning self defense techniques, you will also become a better individual. Your family and friends will surely appreciate the positive changes in you.

So what are you waiting for? Find a Jiu Jitsu instruction class in your area now. Check out the internet because you can find a lot of information resources there. Jiu Jitsu has been around for centuries and if the ancient people benefited greatly from it, so can today's women. Don't be defenseless next time you walk down the street.

Have you finally decided that its time to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? If you have, then it's also time to start looking for the perfect Jiu Jitsu class in your local area. Once you've signed up for Jiu Jitsu in any club or gym, you need to purchase the necessary equipments and Jiu Jitsu 'gi'. Exercises are taught before the classes and there are those who don't do well despite the tips and education provided by the instructors.

If you're having a hard time learning the various exercises in Jiu Jitsu, you should relax and think first. Are you really interested to learn Jiu Jitsu? If your answer is yes, then proceed with the exercises but this time, you need to be more focused and determined. You have to put your heart to it so that you can learn the different techniques as the days or months pass. You can't expect to learn overnight. Learning Jiu Jitsu takes time and effort. It would take years before you can master this sport. In fact, earning a belt is not very easy. For you to be promoted to a higher belt rank, you have to spend years of continuous practice and you must have self discipline.

In Jiu Jitsu classes, all students practice together. This is very important in Jiu Jitsu because it develops group trust. However, if you can't keep up with the rest of the class, there are ways for you to learn better and faster.

Learning Jiu Jitsu does not end when you go out of the club or gym. You need to practice when you have extra time. If a friend of yours is good at Jiu Jitsu, you can ask your friend to teach you some simple techniques. Practice makes perfect so when you have a chance, practice regularly. There are also local pros that are willing to help beginners in exchange for a minimal fee. You can spend some cash on these pros for private lessons. By doing so, the hired pro can monitor your progress and development.

After some time, you will begin to notice some improvements in your skills. Jiu Jitsu matches are also widely available online and if you have time, you can download them. During your free hours, you can watch the matches and learn from the players. Some instructors also provide their students with videos that can aid faster development. Ask your Jiu Jitsu instructor if he or she has an instructional video on Jiu Jitsu techniques.

The decision is entirely up to you whether you will be contented with the club or gym classes or you will resort to the things mentioned above. You have to ensure that you're learning from all the lesson materials your using and don't forget to practice the moves and techniques.

If you're attending a Jiu Jitsu class, it would be best to put your things inside a bag so that all your Jiu Jitsu equipments are intact. When you go out of the house, grab the bag and attend the class. You must always be full of energy and eagerness to learn new things. By having the right attitude towards learning Jiu Jitsu, it will be much easier to learn all the things you need to know.

Practice regularly and you can do this during your classes or you can also practice with a friend.

With the visible convergence of East and West cultures, more and more people are discovering and rediscovering new means self-discipline especially in the field of martial arts. One of these means is called "Aikido," a very popular Japanese martial art.

Knowing Aikido

"Do not fight force with force," this is the most basic principle of Aikido. Considered as one of the non-aggressive styles in martial arts, Aikido has become popular because it doesn't instigate or provoke any attack. Instead, the force of the attacker is redirected into throws, locks, and several restraining techniques.
Since aikido uses very few punches and kicks, the size, weight, age, and physical strength of the participants or the opponents only partake only a small role. What's important is the skilled Aikido practitioner is skilled enough to redirect his or her attacker's energy while keeping him or her in a constant of unbalance.

The history of Aikido as a martial art can be traced when Morihei Ueshiba discovered and developed its principle of aikido. Known as "O Sensei" or the "Great Teacher," Ueshiba made sure to develop a martial art that is based on a purely physical level using movements like throws, joint locks and techniques derived from another martial arts like "Jujitsu" and "Kenjutsu."

Technically, aikido was stemmed out and developed mainly from "daito-ryu aiki-jujutsu" while incorporating several training movements similar to the "yari" or "spear, "jo" or a short "quarterstaff" and from "juken" or "bayonet". Although these jujitsu movements are prominent while practicing the martial art, many practitioners agree that strongest influences of aikido is that of kenjutsu.

When he finally developed the minor and major principles of Aikido, Ueshiba emphasized that the martial art does not only pertain to self-defense techniques but can also play a major role in the enhancement of the practitioner's moral and spiritual aspects eventually leading them to place greater weight on the development and achievement of peace and harmony. In fact, because of the great emphasis in the development of harmony and peace, seasoned aikido practitioners say that "the way of harmony of the spirit" is one phrase that could describe or translate the term "aikido" in English.

Just like any other martial art, aikido has various techniques that include ikkyo or the "first technique," "nikyo" or the "second technique," "sankyo," or the "third technique," "yonkyo" or the "fourth technique," the "gokyo" or the "fifth technique," the "shihonage" or the "four-direction throw," the "kotegaeshi" or the wrist return, "kokyunage" or the "breath throw," "iriminage" or the entering-body throw, "tenchinage" or the "heaven-and-earth throw," "koshinage," or the "hip throw," "jujinage" or the "shaped-like-'ten'-throw," and the "kaitennage" or the rotation throw."

Although aikido is not about punching or kicking the opponent, it is not considered as a static art. It is still a very effective means of martial arts because it requires the aikido practitioner to use the energy of their opponent so they can gain control over them. When you will look at the martial art closely, you will realize that aikido is not only a means of self-defense technique but can also serve a means of spiritual enlightenment, physical health or exercise or a simple means of attaining peace of mind, concentration, and serenity.

Although different aikido styles gives great emphasis on the spiritual aspects to varying levels–some to greater or lesser degrees–the idea that the martial arts was conceptualized in order to achieve peace and harmony remains the most basic ideology of the martial art.

Jiu Jitsu originated many years ago in Japan but it was only recognized on the martial art arena way back in 1990. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was popularized by Royce Gracie and his family and because of their efforts, MMA or mixed martial arts became very popular. This sport is a combination of ground fighting and brutal grappling. In fact, the US Army is still using Jiu Jitsu for conditioning.

Before the Gracie family introduced BJJ, they studied the various movements of boxers, wrestlers, and other forms of martial arts. By watching the various martial arts matches, Royce Gracie and his family were able to come up with the BJJ techniques and movements. During their time in Brazil, MMA was very popular and the games did follow strict rules during competitions. Local competitions were tough back then. Until the Gracie brothers were able to watch the Kano Jiu Jitsu or Judo. They witnessed how the fighters fought on the ground fights. The brothers learned the different Jiu Jitsu techniques after they had lessons with Mitsuyo Maeda, a Japanese Judo master.

To have a better understanding of BJJ, you must know about its origin. Many years ago, the Samurais used Jiu Jitsu during their fights but they also used weapons. Samurais knew how to perform the submission moves, choking, joint locks, throws, and strikes. You don't have to rely on brute strength just to win a fight. With Jiu Jitsu, even a small individual can defeat a larger opponent by using the opponent's energy and strength to his advantage. Jiu Jitsu is also similar to Judo which was created in 1892 in Japan.

The Gracie brothers wanted to learn different forms of martial arts for self defense but as time passed, Jiu Jitsu became a combat sport. The US Army and Marine Corps are presently utilizing Jiu Jitsu for their combat conditioning. You see, this sport is very effective for fighting stronger enemies. Many children and teens are also involved in Jiu Jitsu because it not only teaches the students the different moves or techniques but it also teaches about the proper values and traits. Many Jiu Jitsu enthusiasts are now physically fit and healthy; they are more confident and strong.

Most of today's people are interested in Jiu Jitsu primarily for self defense. The streets are not very safe because crime is everywhere. If you want to protect yourself from criminals, you can learn Jiu Jitsu through the local clubs. There are now lots of Jiu Jitsu clubs which hold trainings for individuals who want to learn the sport.

The reason why many people like Jiu Jitsu is because you don't have to be violent or brutal. With joint locks, chokes, and throws, you can already defeat an opponent. Tournaments are also held for those who want to progress in Jiu Jitsu. As you progress, you also acquire higher belt ranks. With dedication and hard work, you can earn the highest belt rank. It takes many years before you can earn the highest belt rank but it's worth it.

Jiu Jitsu has definitely changed since the first time it was introduced to the world. Despite some changes and modifications, the sport still followed the same principles and philosophy. These principles and philosophy are also taught to the students of Jiu Jitsu. This is why many players achieve a better life even if they leave the training grounds.

Following the rules is one of the most important lessons you need to learn if you want to go far in Jiu Jitsu. Aside from that, you also need to have the right equipments before you can play the sport. In Jiu Jitsu, regular practice is needed so that players can learn the various BJJ techniques and moves. Competitions are usually held to test the abilities of the students. You can't start with the BJJ training if you don't have the necessary equipments. These equipments are needed for your protection and that of your opponents.

'Gi' is the official uniform in Jiu Jitsu. You must have this uniform because if you don't have any, you will not be allowed to join the training practices. The sleeves have a standard length and if you have plans of purchasing a 'gi', you should get it from one who has been making Gi for a long time.

Aside from the uniform, players should wear the appropriate feet protectors and gloves. Sparring is frequently done in the trainings to help players improve their fighting skills. Because of this, you will need a protective gear so that you won't suffer from major damages. If you're going to purchase gloves, you have to ensure that it has no plastic or metal. You see, plastics and metals can cause scratch and cuts; so try to double check.

There are various sports stores online and offline. These are the best places to shop for Gi and other Jiu Jitsu equipments because the seller knows a great deal of the sport. You can even ask your Jiu Jitsu instructor where to get the Gi and other protective equipments. By doing so, you can be sure that your uniform follows the standard size and length.

Players also need mouth guards just in case your opponent hits your jaws. Broken jaws can happen and so players must be prepared at all times. Men are also advised to wear caps to protect their groin. Women should wear a comfortable sports bra because there are times when the Gi loosens during a fight. This will prevent exposure of your breasts.

Kids and teens under sixteen years are required to wear helmets. Frontal strikes can happen and the helmet will protect the player's forehead, eyes, and ears.

Aside from these equipments, you should also buy Jiu Jitsu videos and some notebooks for you to jot down some notes. You can also do some sparring at home to improve your fighting skills. Make sure that you have extra uniform so that you can keep them clean all the time. The equipments may cost you a few hundred dollars but it's worth it. If you take good care of the Jiu Jitsu equipments, it will take some time before you will replace them.

Jiu Jitsu entails hard work and dedication. If you want to be a good fighter, you must have all the necessary equipments so that you can perform the various techniques properly. You should be ready to devote your precious time, effort, and a little bit of money to become good at Jiu Jitsu.

If you're good at Jiu Jitsu, you can already join competitions. By this time, you will surely need the Jiu Jitsu equipments. Buy the necessary equipments now so that you can start with your Jiu Jitsu classes or training.

Before, Jiu Jitsu was merely a hobby for many individuals but now, it's quite different. This form of martial art is already part of the lifestyle of many people because it can cure the ailments of the body and the mind. So what are the training effects that you can expect from Jiu Jitsu?

Jiu Jitsu does not only benefit the physical aspect of the trainee but it also develops the proper mindset so that all the BJJ techniques are performed properly. It's quite hard to explain how Jiu Jitsu can help both the body and the mind but if you can find a BJJ club in your area, try to inquire about their training classes. If you have friends and relatives who are already into Jiu Jitsu, you can ask them about the benefits that they derived from the sport. You will better understand these things from the point of view of your friends or relatives. Analyzing the situation will also help you better understand how BJJ can contribute to physical fitness and mind health.

During the BJJ training sessions, the students will learn about athletic stretching which can aid in the revitalization and relaxation. Through stretching exercises, you can become stronger, physically and mentally. When you're already practicing Jiu Jitsu for a long time, you will learn more about being alert and patient. The principles and techniques of Jiu Jitsu are taught in such a way that students can comprehend. By learning BJJ, you will be more attuned to the surroundings.

During the trainings, you will feel the spirit working, so to speak. If you want to learn Jiu Jitsu and you're serious about it, you should put your heart and soul to it. You must be dedicated and patient. You can't learn all the techniques overnight. It will take years before you can learn everything you need to know. Mastering Jiu Jitsu will even take longer. As mentioned earlier, Jiu Jitsu is not as easy as you think. The trainings are able to create quite optimism among the students and so they are able to change their ways. After their trainings, the students will become better individuals.

If you're looking for a form of marital arts that does not only benefit you physically but mentally as well, Jiu Jitsu is the sport for you. Search for licensed Jiu Jitsu clubs in your area now so that you can enjoy the unique learning experience together with other students. In the training sessions, the students are taught as a group and so they learn to give importance to other people.

They will know the importance of team work but at the same time, they will also learn how to be self-dependent. Students with 'not so good traits' will not be able to practice with other students for they will be disliked. When they realize this, they will opt to change their ways in order to practice with fellow students. In short, the students can change their wrong attitudes.

Those are the training effects of Jiu Jitsu. As you can see, the effects are for the betterment of the students. If you want to benefit from Jiu Jitsu just like the other players of the sport, learn BJJ now. It's never too late to learn the sport as long as you're dedicated and diligent. You will become an entirely different person through BJJ.

Karate training cannot be done in just any kind of clothes. Karate requires full and unhindered movements of the body, legs and arms which are not possible wearing ordinary clothes. Ordinary clothes do not give you the freedom of agility for free stretching and other movements necessary for karate.

Therefore, there is a special uniform for karate training. All students joining a karate class are required to wear the uniform, not only for freedom of movement, but also so that everyone in the class looks the same. The uniform is applicable for both Japanese and Okinawan karate. Uniforms worn for judo are called Gi. The uniform consists of a jacket, pants and belt.

What is the need for a Gi uniform?

Karate training involves a lot of movement of the body, bending kicking and punching with speed and force. Lots of pushing and pulling is also involved. A student performing all these actions should wear a uniform, which gives him or her the freedom to do so and be comfortable at the same time.

The uniform should be strong and be able to bear the stress of pulling without tearing during karate training. There is a lot of contact with the ground, so it should not get torn after few falls. A Gi uniform is usually has shorter sleeves and pant legs. This prevents tripping and getting fingers or hands caught in the sleeves.

To a karate beginner, the uniform gives a sense of pride and a special feeling of belonging to an elite group. It is important to feel a part of the class along with other the students.

A wide variety of karate uniforms are available in the market to suit different styles, the particular climatic conditions of the area, and different body structures of the students. The Gi uniform identifies a student of martial arts whether it is a Korean or Japanese martial art.

There is a color belt scheme to identify the student's rank and seniority. The color signifies the student's level of achievement in terms of training, education and skills. The color scheme appears to have started with Japanese karate.

Rules for Wearing the Uniform

Students are required to wear the uniform when attending karate classes. The uniform must be clean and neatly pressed. It is believed that the outward appearance of the uniform is a reflection of student's internal mind.

A student is expected to not roll up the sleeves and pant legs. If the uniform requires alteration, it must be done immediately. A shabby and ill-fitting uniform is not accepted in karate classes. The life of the uniform can be prolonged by washing it in warm water with a detergent. Avoid bleaching the uniform.

The student is required to identify the uniform owner by putting their name on the inside tag or the lapel of the uniform. Girls are required to wear a white T- shirt under the Gi top.

Importance of Karate to Children

Today's children are the leaders of tomorrow. What could be better if they are taught the good virtues of life and are instilled with the spirits of comradeship, friendship and positive attitude so that they become good and helpful members of the society when they grow up? Children like to play, shout and create a nuisance most of the time. These unharnessed energies can be controlled and directed for the betterment of the society and for the child itself. What can be better than karate training at this young age?

Normally children are under stress due to school, parents pressure to do well, their own fears and because of the menace of bullies at school and on the streets. Playing on the streets is often unsafe, leaving children with nowhere to go and causing worries and problems for their parents. Karate is an important outlet for children to vent their feelings and frustrations. Karate helps in bringing the child and the parents together as a family.

How does Karate help in Development?

Karate has taken center stage in many of the schools, relegating a number of other physical programs to the background. Karate is a physical exercise involving punching, kicking and body movements that teach self-defense and control of the mind and body, allowing the child to learn to handle life's frustrations. Karate also teaches the children to count and yell, known as kia. Of course, it is normal for a child to shout and yell, but karate controls and directs the shouting among the children into something positive and educational.

Children at such a young age are full of life and energy. They are daring and not afraid of taking any risk. While young, it is easy to learn any art. Children who get less physical activity suffer more stress. They are always being told to remain still and quiet, generating even more stress and leading to feelings of frustration and anger. Karate is a safe physical exercise done under the guidance of an experienced instructor which allows children to shed away their frustrations.

Karate not only energies the child, but also teaches them to control their anger. Many parents whose children have been put into the regime of karate training have found their children doing better in their studies, sleeping well, doing their homework on time and seem to be more cooperative in their behavior, not only in the house but also in the classroom. Such children appear calmer and less likely to shy away from a difficult situation. For these reasons, karate training has no parallels in focusing a child's energy and building their character.

Also known around the world as Thai boxing, Muay Thai is an ancient art of self defense that was created and tested in battle by the fearless warriors of ancient Thailand. Today, Muay Thai is used all around the world. The United States Navy SEALs, Thai military, and even the CIA takes full advantage of the devastating and bone crushing techniques this martial art offers.

Unlike other martial arts, students of Thai don't earn belts for their skills and their progression. Instead, their skills are tested in the ring. Since Thai fighting first began, the only things that the fighters themselves are interested in are the championship belts which showcase their dominance in Muay Thai fighting.

The skills that are taught with Muay Thai are far more dominant to other striking based martial arts. Muay Thai uses very little grappling, but focuses more on crushing kicks, punches, and bone shattering elbows. Students of Thai fighting can often take an opponent down with just one shot, often times breaking bones and sometimes even killing them with just one lethal kick or elbow.

The reason why Muay Thai didn't utilize ground grappling or submission holds is because it was developed in ancient battlegrounds where there were always multiple attackers. These attackers were knowledgeable in sword fighting skills, which made the need for a dependable martial art more or less a necessity.

Muay Thai used swords, spears, sticks, and hard strikes. In this type of environment, you didn't want the fight to go to the ground. The strikes and weapon movements needed be fast, hard, and very precise. With these types of conditions and the type of environment, Muay Thai needed be a very fast responsive martial art with an excellent weapons system.

Even though grappling and submissions were planned for Muay Thai, the martial art became more of a ring sport before grappling could be implemented. With Thai originally being a martial art for striking purposes, a lot of martial artists have started using the techniques that have been proven time and time again with time boxing.

Although there are other martial arts that put a lot of emphasis on striking, Muay Thai is quite different. The first area in which Muay Thai differs is the effective use of both elbows and knees. The elbows and knees that are used with most Thai techniques are feared all around the world by boxers and other stylists.

Kicking and kneeing is the main objects in Muay Thai. In order to become efficient with kicking, the shins need to be conditioned – which can be quite painful. Once the Thai stylist has conditioned the nerves in his shins for impact, the shins can be used just like a club or a baseball bat. This is something you should really see for yourself in action – as the sound of the impact alone can send chills down your back.

Through years of training and conditioning, Muay Thai fighters can become lethal and deadly weapons. A properly trained fighter can make deadly impact, meaning that his knees, shins, and elbows are quite possibly deadlier than a gun or other type of weapon. For this very reason – Muay Thai is one of the deadliest and most feared martial arts in the world.

All in all, Muay Thai is a great martial art for defense and competition. Thai is one of the best martial arts in the world, proving it time and time again – in both ancient times and anytime it is used today.
