Winter sports are more enjoyable if you are dressed the right way. You should select clothes that help you look good, are comfortable to wear, are appropriate for the activities that you intend to enjoy and above all protect you and keep you warm and cozy.

Dressing For Winter Sports

It is recommended that you dress in layers when you plan to enjoy winter sports. You can select polypropylene underwear that will keep you warm, absorbs your sweat and would feel good against your skin. When you wear them in layers, you can easily adjust to the weather condition by shedding a layer if it gets too warm. Many people make the mistake of wearing a layer of cotton clothing next to the skin, this is not recommended as cotton clothes can get wet from the sweat and stays wet, leaving the person cold and uncomfortable.

Winter sports can also cause damage to sensitive skin, so wear protective clothing that keeps you safe from wind and cold. Wear sun screen, moisturize your skin, and use protective accessories such as headgear, headbands and caps that retain the heat. You need to opt for woolen or fleece hats and ear muffs could cover your ears. Do not hesitate to wear a scarf or a cape that covers your face partly. You can select goggles or sunglasses that offer protection to your eyes.

Another important winter sports clothing accessory are gloves or mittens that fit right. There are many varieties available but waterproof gloves are much in demand. Some people put heat pads into their coat pockets to keep their hands warm when they are not skiing or enjoying other sports. You need not wear layers of socks as you can opt for the polyester wool blended ones that not only keep you warm but absorb the moisture, are less itchy and more comfy than woolen socks. You can also select the socks depending on the kind of winter sports that you want to go in for. The shoes or boots that you wear have to be selected with care too. Buy footwear that fits, is waterproof and buy heat pads that keep you warm and comfortable. You can also buy boots that have thermoliners that keep your feet warm.

It is very important to stay warm during the winter, especially if you are going to spend a great deal of time outdoors enjoying many winter sports. Ill fitting clothes or clothes that are not warm enough may take your pleasure away leaving you uncomfortable and unable to enjoy the sports. You can always seek counseling from the coach or trainer regarding the sporting attire that would be right for you. Do not make the mistake of buying clothes that look good but are ineffectual in keeping you warm or comfortable. Windproof and waterproof clothing with thermoliners are the best kind of clothing for winter sports.
