Guide to Go-cart Racing Parts

Nothing is as exciting as go-cart racing. Imagine the speed and the thrill, the shrieks of the fans, the monster engine taking you through all the tracks.

If you want to involve yourself in go-cart racing, there's no problem. Given that you already know the mechanics of fast and furious racing, then time to increase your go cart racing know-how by knowing all the go-cart racing parts.

These are the go-cart racing parts for all models.

1. Brakes & Accesories

Go-cart racing brakes are more complex than other brakes because of their parts, like the brake drum, the brake band, the disc brake assembly, brake cable with a U-clamp attached on it, brake pads that come in pairs, zinc-covered brake pedals and the brake kit that holds all the appropriate hardware.

2. Clutches

There are two kinds of go-cart racing clutches: the pulley clutches and the sprocket clutches. The pulley clutches are go-cart racing parts with outside diameter of three inches, while four inches are for the sprocket clutches. Pulley clutches are more expensive, though.

3. Chains and Links

Chains are go-cart racing parts that can be as long as 10 feet. Know what chain number goes perfectly with your go-cart: will it be #35 or #45?

Your go-cart must also be equipped wiht connecting and offset links. Chains must also have chain guards.

4. Engines

Of course, engine is one of the most important go-cart racing parts.

There are two prominent engines for go-carts: Robin Engines which boast of the "Extreme Engine" or the Tecumseh Engines.

In purchasing an engine, check the following details: the drains, throttle controls, the muffler, piston displacement, maximum output, rotation direction, spark plugs, carburetor, the transistorized ignition system, the fuel tanks, shafts and the over-all horsepower. Be sure your go-cart racing is powered with the right engine for optimum performance.

6. Frames

To acquire the best go-cart frame, take note if it's affordable yet of great quality such that additional welding is unnecessary. This particular go-cart racing part must be durable and complete, meaning it has a steering hoop, belly pan and the important brackets and bushings. Ideal weight is 31 pounds.

7. Fuel and Engines Accessories

Included in the fuel and engine accessories are the quality fittings, the fender washers and engine mounting plates.

8. Shock Absorbers

There are two kinds of shock absorbers for go-cart racing parts: the hydraulic and the mechanical. Hydraulic shock absorbers' maximum performance is indicated by its single or double chamber hydraulics and needed springs. The chrome-plated mechanical shock absorbers are of good quality if their compression size reaches up to 2 inches and weighs as much as 450 pounds.

9. Jackshaft Kits

Jackshaft kits include very diminutive but highly important go-cart racing parts like the shafts, tooth sprockets, bearings and keys.

10. Axle Bearings

The default axle bearings must be in accordance with the ANSI or American National Standards Institute. 11. Seats

For great go-cart seats and seat covers, use high-quality vinyl with rich foam support. Know what cover is appropriate for a bucket seat, fiberglass or rib hugger seat.

12. Solid Steel Axles

Be informed on what kind of steel axle to use for economical purposes. It must have the right offset, thread and length. If possible, it should be plated with Zinc for added protection.

13. Spindle Sets

Check if your spindle has the following components: axles with 5/8 and 3/4 inches in diamater, bushings and locknuts. Find out if your spindle is also jig-welded.

14. Sprockets

Sprockets come in variety: sprockets done in aluminum alloy, sprockets done in steel, the axle sprockets. engine sprockets.

15. Steering Wheels

Of course, this is one go-cart racing part that must not be overlooked. Your steering wheels must be devoid of welds, chrome-plated and totally comfortable to the fingers.

You may also want to try aluminum butterfly steering wheels that are very useful in actual competitions.

16. Tie Rods

Yours must feature the perfect threads, notches and must be nicely chrome-plated.

There are many more go-cart racing parts to note of: the throttles, the tubular axles, the wheels, hubs and bearings. If your go-cart is equipped with the most advanced parts, then you are sure to blow the racing track away!
