History Of Car Racing
History of car racing is very interesting and exciting as it has lots of twist from the time the game of race was introduced till now. The concept of racing started even before cars were invented and at that time the races were held between animals and buggies drawn by horses.
Car racing began soon after the vehicles which run on petrol were invented. Theoretically the first race ever was organised by Paris publication called Le Velocipede. This race was around 2 kilometres in length and since it has just one racer, it was never considered as race.
The first actual race which is considered and known for its authenticity among other races that were held simultaneously is the one from Paris to Bordeaux which was held in the year 1895 with the winner as Emile Levassor.
The first race in America took place in Illinois and the race was in 54 miles in length and the winner was Frank Duryea winning the first ever racing championship trophy called Vanderbilt cup.
With the passing time and development in the field pf automobile industry, a lot of change came in the history of car racing when how the cars were looked upon with increase in speed and capabilities to sustain the long journey without much of a problem. This gave rise to city to city racing and most of these races took place from Paris itself or may end in Paris at times.
This was because at that time France was leader in automobile racing organiser and most of the racing competition took place over here on comparatively large scale. It also happened because people here just loved car racing and were fascinated by the sports. One of the biggest of most national as well as international racing taking place here was the organisation called ACF which was active through this era for making race a sport which it is today.
The whole concept of racing gradually changed and the history of car racing took a new turn towards the onset of 1930s when racing was held not between high speed cars but between cars meant for racing which were much faster. This was with all due thanks to Auto union, Mercedes-Benz, Delgae, Delahaye and Bugati. These companies started constructing vehicles which produced about 450 kW along with the add-on facility of supercharging.
History of car racing changed further with the introduction single seat racing and so the concept of formula one got popularised. Companies like Ferrari, Ford, Nippon, Mazda, BMW etc started innovating newer technologies to beat their arch rivals and thus the speed in which history of car racing is changing into future grew rapid and so is continuing till yet.
