Mountain Biking, Stay Healthy, The Fun Way
Mountain biking is an extreme sport. It is an excellent form of exercise as well and a great way to stay fit. It requires a lot of physical endurance and excellent balancing skills. Bikers simply cannot resist the adrenalin rush that they experience while mountain biking. Mountain biking may not necessarily be practiced only in mountains. It can be practiced on paved roads, trails etc.
One word of cautions is that you should ride in groups while taking long trails to avoid being stranded alone. Also, you should have complete knowledge of bikes. You should know how to change a flat tire or repair slight damages. Thus, it is an excellent way to encourage team building as well. Mountain biking also builds up strong survival skills in an individual.
Types of Mountain Biking and Bikes
There are five main types of mountain biking. They are cross country downhill, freeriding, dirt jumping and trials/street riding. Mountain bikes are slightly different from regualr bikes. They have good shock absorbers, round large tubing and a solid frame. They have a smaller and stronger frame. They also have wider tyres, a strong rim and a lower range of gears. This lower range of gears allow them to climb over obsatcles and steep hills. They also have an upwardly rising handle bear which ensures better control on the bike. Downhill riding or riding down a single stretch of road which goes on for a couple of miles is very popular amongst bikers. Most bikers experice a sense of euphoria as they ride downhill.
Famous Trails
Mountain biking has grown leaps and bounds as an adventure sport in America. There are many trails that are becoming increasingly popular amongst bikers. The whole of the western American is a great place for mountain biking, but still there are a few spots, which are considered the best. The Pinery Canyon road in Arizona and the flume trail in Nevada are just two examples. These are scenic rides and if you end up doing a lot of hard work in the trail, it is all worth it. The Pinery canyon road is the longest of the lot at 50 miles while the rest are 20 miles each. These terrains make you one with nature and you have got to ride here to believe it.
So if you are the athletic types who like to sweat it out, get a mountain bike for yourself and start off on a mountain biking vacation. It's the best way to unwind.
