Racing go cart or 'kart' racing as it is more popularly known is a fun and an exciting sport that anybody can enjoy. If you're a fan of racing and have a thirst for speed then this is the sport for you. Have you always wondered what it would feel like to zoom down the pavement of a racing track and raise your arms up in victory; while the rest of the competition is still down on the tracks trailing after your dust?

There are organized racing go cart competitions from all over the country. It doesn't matter how old you are. Everyone is welcome to participate in this exciting sport.

Go carts are principally small four wheeled-vehicles that has a back engine. The go cart was originally invented in the United States during the 1950's during the post war period. They were created by airmen who wanted to do something with their spare time.

A man named Art Ingels is considered to be the one responsible for the invention of the go cart. He built the first ever go cart in 1956 in Southern California.

Nowadays racing go cart has become a popular sport and has a following from all over the globe, especially in Europe. Basically anyone from the age 8 onwards can acquire a license for racing go cart.

Many non-professionals participate in racing go carts as a hobby or a form of entertainment. But many professional motorcar racers also partake in or have roots in racing go cart. Some of them even own race tracks. They use them to practice motor racing. Notables like Michael Schumacher and his brother Ralf Scumacher have experience in racing go cart. Michael Schumacher even owns a go-kart track which can be found in Koln.

It has been thought of that racing go cart would be a good introduction to the sport of motor racing. Given that it is relatively inexpensive, and a safer form of the sport. Many Formula One racers started in racing go carts.

There are many different types of go cart engines and chassis you can choose from. You can even assemble your own go cart by purchasing a go cart kit. Just follow the instructions and watch as your creation comes to life.

Go cart chassis can be classified as caged or open. Open carts have no existing roll cage, while a caged cart has a roll caged that encloses the driver. In Europe they do not use caged carts.

Racing go carts used in competition have a small engine and run on fuel; while the soap box carts often used by hobbyists only need the driving force of gravity to run. 4-stroke engines and 2 stroke are the most common engine types.

4 strokes engines used in racing go carts are also engines that can be found in generators and lawn mowers. 2 strokes engines are engines originally designed for motorcycles. But they are now also being used for go carts. Go carts use a different set of wheels and tires, depending on the condition of the tracks they will be used for.

There are many different types of competitions that exist for racing go carts. Sprint format- this race format only last for about 15 minutes. It only has a few number of laps. Usually you only need to pass three qualifying heats to make it to the final race.

Endurance racing - this is one of the most popular racing go cart events. The endurance racing go cart competition categorizes by age, level of experience, and weight. This racing event can last up to eight hours. It is everywhere in the united states: New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Nevada, etc. It has been said this type of racing is the style that has been popularized in Europe. This type of racing is a group activity; it is a long distance race requiring numerous drivers to take turn.

Those racers who are members of go cart racing clubs bring their own team of racers to these competitions. They usually comprise of three to four people. If you are alone and new to endurance racing you will be assigned to a team.

There are many reasons why people get interested in racing go cart. Whether it be curiosity or the spirit of adventure, or maybe motor racing is your sport, racing go cart is open to everyone.
