Ever seen a sprint car racing? If you have not seen one till now, then I must tell you that you have missed out on some excellent action. Sprint cars are nothing but high powered car that are specially made to run at very high speed on small tracks. These races are very popular in countries like the United States, New Zealand and Australia, and people there too are very avid followers.

Now, a common question that comes to everybody's mind is how do these small cars run so fast in these Sprint car racing? The fact that these cars have a very high power to weight ratio, makes these cars run at a very high speed. At times these cars easily run at a speed of much higher than 140 miles per hour. Sprint car racing is a threat to the drivers too, due to the extreme high speed and mishaps do occur regularly in these racing events.

Sprint car racing has become far safer these days as roll cages are used to protect drivers' incase of accidents. There are two types of cars that are used in these Sprint car races: Winged and non-winged. It is believed that the winged car are safer to use in the sprint car racing, as the wings increase the down force; helping the car to turn in corners and it also lessens the chance of the car going airborne. Incase the cars do go airborne; the wings break off or absorb majority of the impact, hence protecting the driver from mishaps. The non-winged cars are also a treat to watch in these Sprint car racing but are generally not as safe as the winged versions.

Many professional drivers use Sprint car racing to learn various tricks of racing before they actually move to bigger events. Sprint car racing is extremely popular too and is regularly telecast, but in past the non-winged cars generally longed advertising opportunities but with the increase of winged car races things have changed for the game in the advertising scenario too.

Sprint car racing is a treat to eyes but driving one of those cars is never easy. To be a sprint car driver, you need be very brave as any moment you may be close to losing your life. It is not that I am trying to scare all Sprint car racing aspirants but that may also be the case.
